Proudly Handmade in Scotland

My name is Bertie, (it’s short for Roberta) and I am Bertie Girl ….and I love making fabulously fun Harris Tweed gifts for her, him and the dog!

I have a deep love of animals, nature, real food, good company and handmade things. After time studying textiles in Belfast and Dundee I worked in London for a while. With 8 years of London city life under my belt I skedaddled back to Scotland, bought some dogs, chickens and extra cats and got on with creating a small business to be proud of.

I hope that by finding my website, buying my products or just getting in touch means you are a kindred spirit who wants to connect with a small local business with a conscience.

I have a no nonsense approach to most things. The products you find on my website are honest, handmade, well made, robust, colourful and cheerful. I have a deep sense of responsibility to my customers, when buying a handmade product there is a connection with its maker. It’s personal….

The act of giving a gift is an action that comes from the heart. My products come from the heart so they are well suited for gift giving. Each product has its own soul, its own story of becoming. There’s some silliness, some function and some beauty which I am proud for you to share. I hope you find something you like and something you would like to gift to other people too.

Feel free to get in touch if you would like to know more.

About Harris Tweed: “From royalty and landed gentry to Hollywood icons and the finest designers of couture, this humble cloth, produced by the skilled craftspeople of the Outer Hebrides, became a wardrobe staple, a must-have item for discerning customers across the globe. In its rise to prominence, Harris Tweed cloth scaled Everest and graced the Silver Screen, sailed the Seven Seas and was showen off on red carpets and catwalks. By the middle of the 20th century, the Clo Mor (Gaelic for ‘The Big Cloth’) had secured its status as a true and timeless classic textile”  – find out more by visiting The Harris Tweed Authority website.
